2018 Spring Burn on Mt. Adams Community Forest a Success

In May of 2018, Mt. Adams Resource Stewards worked with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and other supporting agencies to successfully implement a cross-boundary prescribed burn on the Pine Flats Tract of the Mt. Adams Community Forest and adjacent Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge lands. The undertaking marked the third consecutive year that MARS has used prescribed fire on Mt. Adams Community Forest lands in an effort to improve public safety through the controlled reduction of wildland fuels while restoring low intensity fire as an essential ecological process for forest health and resiliency. More images and information on this year’s burn are found in a short video video put together by MARS staff.
